The Rancho Cordova Police Department (RCPD) is preparing to conduct a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in the near future. During the checkpoint, officers will be on the lookout for signs of alcohol or drug use amongst drivers. They will also be verifying the validity of their licenses with the intention of minimizing the delay to motorists. This checkpoint will take place from 7 PM on March 15 to 2 AM on March 16, though the exact location remains undisclosed.
DUI checkpoint locations, according to authorities, are selected based on data relating to incidents of impaired driving crashes. This is intended to increase public safety by removing potential impaired drivers from the streets. A first-time DUI charge, the RCPD has warned, could result in an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspension of the driver’s license.
