Pat Mahomes Sr. Accused of DWI with ‘Open Alcohol Container’

Pat Mahomes Sr., father of NFL player Patrick Mahomes, was allegedly found drunk driving with an open container of alcohol in his car on February 3. He was then arrested and charged with intoxication while driving, as confirmed by an incident report obtained by Us Weekly. Pat, 53, admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages prior to his arrest. He was released from custody the same day he was arrested in Tyler, Texas, after a $10,000 bail was posted. This is not Pat’s first run-in with the law, as he was previously arrested for the same offense five times between 2012 and 2019.

Patrick Mahomes, a key player for the Kansas City Chiefs, spoke about his father’s arrest on February 5, stating that it was a family matter and it would be dealt as such. The quarterback is slated to play at the Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers. Pat had witnessed his son’s team win the AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens on January 28 and expressed his excitement about moving forward to the Super Bowl.

In other news related to Pat, he made headlines after joking about sharing a box at Chiefs games with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s entourage. He was asked in an interview if he planned to sit with Swift and Kelce’s family, to which he jokingly responded that he would not, as Swift could very well afford her own suite.
