The Newtown Township Police Department in PA has reported a series of incidents and arrests that occurred between February 9 and February 22, 2024.
On February 9, police were called to a Swamp Road business to investigate a report of fraud involving a counterfeit check. This case is still under investigation.
Two days later, a Chevrolet pickup truck was pulled over for a vehicle code violation on Swamp Road at Liberty Drive. A search led to the discovery and seizure of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia and the driver was arrested with charges pending.
On February 12, a Volkswagen sedan was stopped on Diamond Drive and Buck Road for a vehicle code violation. The officer detected signs of impairment and the driver was arrested for suspected DUI after refusing field sobriety and blood tests.
On February 18, a report of suspicious activity led to the discovery of evidence of a burglary at a Newtown Township residence. The investigation into this incident continues.
On February 19, a local business alerted the police about an instance of theft of services. This case is also under active investigation.
On February 20, a Toyota was pulled over on Buck Road and Mill Pond Drive for committing a vehicle code violation. As in the previous traffic stop, suspected narcotics were found and seized, leading to the driver’s arrest while charges are pending.
The following day, a truck safety inspection conducted by the Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit, comprised of officers from Newtown Borough, Newtown Township and Upper Makefield, resulted in nine trucks being inspected on River Road in Upper Makefield. One truck was ordered off the road and two violations were issued, along with two warnings.
Also on February 21, police responded to a fraud case involving a tampered check at a State Street business.
On February 22, authorities responded to a single-vehicle accident at Linton Hill Road and Washington Crossing Road. The driver, displaying signs of intoxication, failed a field sobriety test. Charges are pending lab results from blood tests.
Aside from these incidents, police also carried out a truck safety detail and investigated a report concerning theft of services.
