Man charged with DWI after hitting home, gas station in Waynesville

A man is facing DWI and other charges after crashing a minivan into a house and a gas station in Waynesville. The incident took place on the night of March 15, 2024, and the man has since been charged with DWI and two counts of injury to real property, according to the Waynesville Police Department.

The unidentified man, who’s believed to be in his mid-30s, first struck a gas station located at the intersection of Allens Creek Road and Main Street. Following that, he crashed into a house a third of a mile away, with a portion of the minivan penetrating the living room.

While there was a resident in the house at the time of the crash, he was unharmed but understandably upset. The damages to both the gas station and the home are estimated to be around $60,000. The driver, in addition to the DWI, is being charged with two counts of property damage.
