The Laredo Police Department (LPD) reported that they apprehended six individuals who were allegedly driving under the influence over a two-week operation. Officers were able to do so through the Impaired Driver Mobilization grant provided by the Texas Department of Transportation. The officers were on overtime duty to implement DWI laws from December 13 to January 1. In addition to the six drunk driving arrests, the officers also carried out 444 traffic stops, handed out 609 citations and made another arrest. The LPD stated that these statistics reflect the diligence and commitment of the officers to make Laredo’s roads safer. The department noted that the venture was quite successful and, with the growing vehicular traffic in Laredo, they aim to encourage residents to stay safe and avoid drinking and driving.
