An off-duty deputy from Hidalgo County was arrested by the McAllen police for drunk driving, according to Sheriff Eddie Guerra. The arrested deputy, Joshua C. Kaltenbach, was subsequently placed on administrative leave without pay by the Sheriff’s office, pending further probe into the incident. Sheriff Guerra stated via social media that all allegations of employee misconduct would continue to be investigated and that necessary actions would be taken to uphold accountability and transparency. Kaltenbach was later released from jail on Wednesday on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond.
