A 52-year-old man from Eureka has been arrested by the authorities on allegations of drunk driving after almost causing an accident. This supposedly took place while he was driving in the wrong direction on Bald Hill Road. The man is said to have had at least two previous DWI convictions, according to the Eureka Police.
The incident happened on Dec 9 at roughly 2:45 p.m. when an officer allegedly spotted a 2010 Toyota Sequoia moving in the opposite direction in the southbound lane. The vehicle was going to collide with oncoming traffic but at last moment it swerved back into the correct southbound lane, said the report.
Furthermore, the officer pulled over the Sequoia near the crossroads of South Virginia Avenue and Dreyer Avenue, during which an open Bud Light can was discovered in the cup holder of the SUV, the report added.
The driver declined to participate in field sobriety tests so was consequently arrested. The individual was then taken to the Police Station and later released to a sober driver, as mentioned in the police report.
Captain Michael Werges mentioned that the Eureka Police Department will be seeking charges against the individual for DWI via the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
