AUSTIN, TX — Austin police made 40 DWI arrests over the Memorial Day Weekend after concluding its no refusal initiative on Tuesday.
Of the 40 arrests made, 19 had been blood search warrants, 17 had been consent breath samples and 4 had been consent blood samples, Austin Police Division officers mentioned Thursday.
About eight arrests made had consent breath samples over .15, about 5 arrests had a Class A misdemeanor DWI with prior convictions, 5 arrests had felony DWI prices with two or extra prior convictions and two arrests had felony DWI prices with a toddler passenger.
None had been arrested for intoxicated assault or intoxication manslaughter, authorities mentioned.
The division’s 2021 Memorial Day Weekend No Refusal initiative kick began Thursday and ended Tuesday. Legislation officers roamed the streets in common visitors areas between 10 p.m. to five a.m. every evening.
Officers mentioned the initiative was an effort to implement DWI legal guidelines, hold the general public secure by encouraging drivers to make accountable selections, and to use for blood search warrants on suspects who refuse to supply a breath or blood specimen as required by regulation.
