DWI Charge for Boerne Coach

On Sunday morning, a high school coach from Boerne Independent School District was apprehended on suspicion of drunken driving. Based on a press statement from Kendall County Detention Center, Christopher Slay, also known as Scott Slay, was booked at 5:38 a.m. for the DWI charge. Scott Slay is affiliated with Boerne Champion High School where he serves as a world geography teacher and also the head coach for the school’s water polo, swimming, and diving teams. As of Sunday, Boerne ISD officials could not comment on employee-related issues but promised to release an official statement by Monday. In his debut year as the coach, Slay guided the Champion water polo team to a remarkable 24-3 record, winning silver at the state meet in October. This was the team’s consecutive second-place finish at the state level. More details on this matter will be reported in the Wednesday online edition of the Boerne Star.
