Teen in De Soto Arrested for DWI After Crash

A 19-year-old female from De Soto was detained following a vehicular accident in the De Soto region on Sunday, March 31, for reportedly driving under the influence, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. At around 6:25 p.m., the young woman was operating a 2008 Toyota Camry heading south on Hwy. 21 just north of Perkins Road, southwest of De Soto. She lost command of her vehicle, which then veered off the right side of the road and crashed into two trees. She incurred moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital South in Southern St. Louis County by Valle Ambulance. A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed the young woman was treated and subsequently discharged. The report also indicated she was arrested at 8:10 p.m. on suspicion of DWI and kept at the hospital until she was let go. Despite wearing a seatbelt, the vehicle was a total loss. At this time, her identity will not be disclosed unless charges are filed against her, and as of the morning of Monday, April 2, no charges had been laid.
