A Farmingdale man was charged with driving whereas intoxicated after police mentioned he struck a faculty bus, then lunged at officers making an attempt to arrest him Monday.
Nassau County police mentioned the collision occurred close to the intersection of ninth Avenue and Woodward Parkway in South Farmingdale at about 6:40 p.m. and mentioned a police officer suffered a left shoulder harm throughout the investigation and arrest and was handled at a hospital.
A 68-year-old male driver was the one individual aboard the bus and was not injured, police mentioned.
Police mentioned Richard Cirillo, 42, was driving a Honda CRV that crashed into the bus and mentioned an investigation decided he was intoxicated.
Police mentioned Cirillo lunged at officers making an attempt to arrest him, then was concerned in a battle with officers and refused to adjust to their orders not to withstand.
Cirillo was charged with driving whereas intoxicated, second-degree assault, resisting arrest and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.
He faces arraignment Tuesday in First District Courtroom in Hempstead. It was not instantly clear if he was represented by counsel.
