CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston Metropolis leaders on Tuesday held a press convention to deal with security considerations amid rising crime on King Road.
Starting this weekend, the Charleston Police Division (CPD) will start implementing extra security measures to mitigate the issue, together with elevated legislation enforcement presence, “elevated enforcement of all legal guidelines, ordinances, and rules,” elevated DUI enforcement, and elevated enforcements of occupancy limits in companies.
Town can be making some visitors modifications. Visitors on King Road between Spring and Mary Streets can be one straight solely starting at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The Northbound lane can be reversed for emergency automobiles solely.
Moreover, parking can be prohibited between King and Mary Streets from 6:00 p.m. till 3:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Towing can be enforced.
There can be in a single day avenue sweeping on the weekends, and “extra frequent cleansing of sidewalks and customary areas.”
Different efforts embody enhanced ID enforcement to weed out underaged patrons and extra lighting for darkish areas.
