The TelegraphJERSEYVILLE – A Louisiana girl was charged final week with aggravated battery and drug possession after a DUI arrest.
Daybreak C. Stephens, 41, of Louisiana, was charged with aggravated battery, a Class 2 felony, and illegal possession of a managed substance, a Class 4 felony.
She additionally faces misdemeanor citations for DUI and improper lane utilization.
In response to courtroom paperwork, on Feb. 6 at about 352 a.m., Stephens allegedly was driving a 2020 Chevrolet when she was stopped by a Jerseyville police officer on the intersection of State and Adams streets. She allegedly later struck a corrections officer on the facet of her head and had lower than 15 grams of cocaine.
Bail was set at $40,000.
In an unrelated incident, Shawn Ambrose Guzman, 24, of Grafton, was charged Feb. 11 with aggravated home battery, a Class 2 felony, and illegal interference with the reporting of home violence, a Class 4 felony.
In response to courtroom paperwork, on Feb. 11 Guzman allegedly strangled a girlfriend and prevented her from calling 911.
Bail was set at $40,000.
