S. HEIDELBERG TWP., Pa. – 5 drivers have been arrested Saturday throughout a DUI enforcement checkpoint in Berks County.
Berks County Police Departments from the North Central Regional DUI Enforcement Program performed the sobriety checkpoint within the 4900 block of Penn Avenue in South Heidelberg Township.
South Heidelberg Township Police report 527 automobiles have been stopped on the checkpoint between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
Police say 5 drivers have been arrested for DUI. One for alcohol and 4 for Marijuana.
It is reported that one individual was cited for having an open container of alcohol in his automobile, one driver was arrested for fleeing and eluding cops, and one driver was not permitted to drive after he was deemed unsafe to drive, however under the authorized restrict to drive.
Police say 12 visitors citations have been issued for varied violations, and one other 4 drivers got written warnings. Two of the visitors violations have been for kids not utilizing automobile seats, and one was for driving with a suspended driver’s license.
