PRINCETON — Two DUI checkpoints carried out Friday and Saturday resulted within the arrests of six impaired drivers, based on the Mercer County Sheriff’s Division.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Division carried out two back-to-back sobriety checkpoints that began the night of Friday, Dec. 17 on U.S. Route 52 in Bluewell and ended early Saturday morning, Dec. 18 on Courthouse Highway in Princeton in assist of the nationwide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over marketing campaign, based on Sergeant A.M. Ballard.
Throughout these checkpoints roughly 602 drivers complete have been contacted. Out of these, there have been 9 arrests made. Six impaired drivers (DUIs), one fugitive from justice, and two others associated to drug possession and unlawful firearms have been the arrests made, Ballard mentioned. Due to the variety of arrests, the Courthouse Highway checkpoint needed to be discontinued previous to its scheduled ending time, as there was not sufficient staffing accessible to proceed checking drivers safely.
“Out of the six DUI drivers arrested, 50 p.c have been driving inebriated, and 50 p.c have been impairment from varied medicine together with marijuana and methamphetamine,” Ballard mentioned.
