Law enforcement agencies plan DUI checkpoints in Summerville


SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) – A number of regulation enforcement businesses are planning to arrange DUI checkpoints Saturday night time in Summerville.

The Summerville Police Division, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Workplace, and the South Carolina Freeway Patrol say they’ll be out in full pressure with additional patrols.

They are saying it’s an effort to maintain reckless and intoxicated drivers off the roadways and cut back the variety of DUI-related accidents and deaths.

Summerville police say the aim is to ensure everybody makes it house safely.

Statistically, South Carolina is probably the most harmful state within the nation to drive, officers say. They are saying almost half of all deadly accidents contain an impaired driver.

Companies say Saturday’s DUI checkpoints will start at 8 p.m. on the following places:

  • Nexton Parkway
  • Vacation Drive
  • Millhouse Drive
  • North Maple Road
  • Sigma Drive
  • Brighton Park Blvd.

To keep away from endangering your self and others, police say there are a number of alternate options to consuming and driving.

They suggest calling a good friend or member of the family, calling a taxi, or utilizing your smartphone to order a rideshare service.
