DUI Charge for Juan Moxthe Following Fatal O’Hare Airport Car Crash Involving Stepdaughter

A Wood Dale man, Juan Moxthe, 45, has been accused of aggravated DUI, which resulted in the death of his stepdaughter due to a car accident near O’Hare Airport last week. Moxthe was allegedly under the influence of alcohol while driving three of his family members when the rollover accident occurred.

The tragedy unfolded on West Irving Park Road in Bensenville around 2:30 in the morning, according to Chicago police. It’s reported that the vehicle collided with a median guard rail and rolled over numerous times. A woman, ejected from the car, was rushed to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

It was disclosed by authorities that Moxthe was driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.12, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08. The DuPage County State’s Attorney called the incident ‘completely avoidable’, urging people against driving while intoxicated.

Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased woman as 28-year-old Jaylene Escamilla, Moxthe’s stepdaughter, from Addison, Illinois. Two other passengers, Moxthe’s wife and Escamilla’s husband, received treatment by paramedics at the scene.

Moxthe, who also sustained severe injuries, was initially hospitalized. His court appearance is scheduled for January 8.
