TMZ is reporting that former Vancouver Canucks all-star Todd Bertuzzi was arrested for drunk driving in Michigan over the weekend.

The 46-year-old Bertuzzi, according to TMZ, was pulled over simply after midnight Saturday in Auburn Hills, an prosperous suburb of Detroit, after motorists phoned 911 to report “a automobile swerving everywhere in the highway.”

The retired NHLer was arrested and booked into Oakland County Jail on suspicion of DUI.

Bertuzzi, who began his professional hockey profession as a New York Islander in 1995, starred for eight seasons (1997-2006) with the Vancouver Canucks and was a member of the group’s heralded West Coast Specific line with Markus Naslund and Brendan Morrison.

Nonetheless, his scoring exploits with the Canucks had been overshadowed by a violent on-ice incident that occurred on March 8, 2004, when Bertuzzi hit Colorado Avalanche rookie Steve Moore from behind, sending him face-first to the ice and leaving him with a concussion and fractured vertebrae.

The assault, which ended Moore’s profession, was seen as retaliation for a success that the Colorado participant had delivered on Naslund earlier that season.

Bertuzzi was suspended for the remainder of the common season and the playoffs.

Moore later sued Bertuzzi and acquired a multimillion-dollar out-of-court settlement in 2014.

After leaving Vancouver, Bertuzzi’s profession continued with stints in Florida, Calgary, Anaheim and Detroit, which was his final NHL cease earlier than he retired in 2015.

Bertuzzi, who has made a number of visits again to Rogers Enviornment for on-ice ceremonies, is a frequent visitor commentator on Vancouver’s Sportnet 650 radio morning present.

He now lives in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
