A 34-year-old Helena man is accused of kidnapping and assaulting a companion or member of the family.
Helena police have been dispatched to the 2100 block of eleventh Avenue simply after 2 a.m. on April 6 for a report of a home disturbance.
In response to the arrest report, Jerome Patrick Shafford and the sufferer have been exterior of a good friend’s home in a car when Shafford started punching the sufferer “quite a few occasions on the arm, leg and head, which induced damage.”
The arresting officer famous within the arrest affidavit that the sufferer had seen bruising on the arm.
The sufferer tried to drive to the hospital however was allegedly stopped by Shafford. Police allege that when the sufferer wouldn’t open the car to Shafford, he started “to punch the car on the home windows, sides and headlights, inflicting injury to the car.”
After finally having access to the car, Shafford allegedly held a knife to the sufferer and demanded to drive away.
Whereas holding a knife to the sufferer’s throat from the passenger seat, he allegedly reached his leg over the middle console and pressed the accelerator, in keeping with the affidavit.
“The defendant began driving the car at a excessive price of pace on Freeway 12 making the sufferer really feel like he was going to crash the car as a result of erratic driving conduct and site visitors on the freeway,” the officer states within the affidavit.
Shafford was arrested and booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Heart.
Shafford has been charged with felony counts of prison endangerment and aggravated kidnapping together with misdemeanor counts of companion or member of the family assault and prison mischief.
All charged are presumed harmless till confirmed responsible.
