ANTIOCH, Calif. (AP) — The mayor of a small Northern California metropolis has apologized after being arrested on suspicion of driving underneath the affect.
Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe stated he was pulled over by the California Freeway Patrol early Saturday morning after eating with a good friend.
“Though I by no means felt inhibited by the drink I had with my dinner, I’m deeply sorry for the lapse in judgment and I hope that you may forgive me,” Thorpe stated in a video message on Twitter.
Thorpe was the one occupant of a Volvo that was pulled over on northbound Interstate 680 shortly earlier than 1:30 a.m. Saturday, the freeway patrol stated in a information launch.
Thorpe was launched from jail round 3:30 a.m., KGO-TV reported.
The mayor stated on the recommendation of his legal professionals, he’s restricted in what he can share with the general public. However he stated he “takes full accountability” for his actions.
