In Shasta County, California, a man was apprehended for driving under the influence following an accident where he struck a power pole, causing a blackout. The incident, involving a solo car accident on Gilman Road at Coal Creek Road, was responded to by Redding units of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) around 5:50 p.m. The culprit, who was driving a Subaru Outback and was drunk at the time, veered off the road and collided with a power pole, as per the CHP Redding. The impact completely wrecked the power pole and caused damage to several others. Despite no one being injured in the incident, the crash resulted in a power outage for nearly 400 local residents.
